Day Four at IDSFFK; Packed with Best of All

The fourth day of International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala is all set to hit the screens with a total of 30 documentaries and short films. Out of the 30, a large part is non-Indian ones which will provide a chance for the delegates to get familiar with different styles of treatment along with some of the trademarked styles of making in this arena. Vision Du Reel winner ‘Tea or Electricty’ by Jerome Le Maire will be the first screening for today and the day will move on with a wide range of screenings under various categories leaving the delegates only with a puzzled face on ‘which to miss and which to go for?’ as each one is best as same as the other.
The day will also screen the famous works of unchallenged giants and all time legends of documentary films Noel Burch (Red Hollywood) and Deepa Dhanraj (The Advocate) under their retro sections. ‘The Genius of Ramanujan’ by Nandan Kudhyadi is a documentary that deals with the life of Indian icon of mathematics Shrinivasa Ramanujan who always travelled through his own ways in the arena of figures and calculations. This documentary is a definite attention grabber of the day.
The short documentary, ‘Cancer Katha’ by Vasudha Joshi is the story of the director’s fight with cancer which will help cancer patients to understand and fight the disease. Cancer Kadha is also the recipient of Special Jury Award in the 60th National Film Awards 2013. ‘Ningal Aranaye kando’ by Sunanda Bhat narrates the change at fast pace and lose to nature and human relations that occurs on the name of development in the Wayanad regions. The documentary is under the competition for the long documentaries and will grab many eyes for the screening.
The day will come to an end with the screening of six of the most noted documentaries of all time under the ‘history of docs’ section thus providing the audience with a deep and un-forgetful insight into the history of documentary films.
