Five Broken Cameras: Inaugural Film of the 6th IDSFFK

An original story of the cruel invasion told by a farmer in a border village of Israel through his five cameras broken by the Israeli soldiers will raise the curtain for the 6th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala. It is the first ever Palestinian film to be nominated for Best Documentary feature at the Academy Awards .The film ' Five Cameras Broken' directed by Emad Burnet and Guy Davidi, is highly personal but encompasses on the life of a Palestine villager and his ability of resistance and willpower.

Bil'in is a Palestine village where a separation barrier is being built by the army where villagers are forced to resist in a peaceful manner. Emad films the struggle and it soon affects his family and his own life. One after the other, each camera is shot or smashed by the army. Every time his camera is destroyed; he buys a new one, creating a history of cameras. The film is successful in portraying the atrocities by the Israeli army faced by Palestine as a whole nation. This opening film is believed to be inspiring and not just to be interpreted as part of the political discourse
