'Nature's Guardian Angel'- Mike Pandey with Five Documentaries in the Sixth IDSFFK


Mike Pandey is one of the country's renowned natural history documentary makers, a one man army fighting to preserve nature's heritage who  is going to enlighten  the sixth IDSFFK from june 7th to 11th being the Chief Guest of the film festival  with his five 'Green documentaries'. Pandey is a three time Green Oscars winner and he has been hailed as one of the most dynamic film makers of the century. His love for environment and endangered species is known by his passion and care for the nature that was incredibly noted by the world wide audience from his films. He is a successful film maker who has spread awareness about biodiversity and species conservation. He is the first filmmaker to be awarded the prestigious CMS UNEP Award for Outstanding Achievement in Global Conservation.



 His documentary 'Children of the Blue Mountains (kurambas) portrays the livelihood between ethnic folk and forest . Kurumba community who resides in the Nilgiri hills is the subject focus of this documentary. As the film says they are the most primitive of the first people (Adivasi). 'Broken wings and vanishing vultures' is a passionate venture of Pandey and his team who collected visuals with a purpose for over thirty years that dealt with the extinction of vultures. 'Timeless Traveler : The Horse -shoe Crab' details interesting facts about planet's old living creature-the horse shoe crab. This Green Oscar winning film of Pandey -Last Migration: Wild Elephant Capture in Sarguja is a relentless look into the grim reality of a 42- day Elephant Hunt in Madhya Pradesh which is a result by the depletion of forests in Haryana forcing the herd of wild elephants to migrate. 'Vanishing Giants' is another Green Oscar winning film of Mike Pandey that follows a news report mode that puts the viewer face to face with the cruel torture of an entrapped elephant and how it finally succumbs to death.
Mike Pandey is a film maker who believes that one should touch the mind and heart of the audience and make them realize the need of change. Earth Matters - a series on the wildlife and environment of India that has won four international awards and Khullam Khulla - a fun learning educational series for children were produced by Mike. He was awarded V .Shantaram Life Time Achievement Award at the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2012 (MIFF).
