The 6th
edition of International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala
organized by Kerala State Chalachithra Academy brings 66 films in the competition
section in six genre Short Documentary, Long Documentary, Animation, Campus
Film, Music Video and Short Fiction.
'Oru Kuttanadan
Karshakan' by Santhosh Sivan unveils the magnificent beauty of the Venice of
the East whereas Nishtha Jain's 'Gulabi Gang' invites viewer's attention to the
frustration and disappointments faced by women. The fight for love and
resistance by breaking the pillars of a feudal society is the core of 'Immoral
Daughters' by Nakul Singh. 'To-Let' by Spandan Banerjee is a film about
physical spaces. All these films compete in the long documentary section.
Films discussing
various social issues like unique ID project, the enrichment on the indigenous
population by the real estate corporate and various other issues related to the
globalisation wave pops up the social commitment. 'Bleeding' by Aromal.T in the
short fiction competition section is inspired by Irving Stone's biographical
novel 'Lust for Life'. 12 short fiction films are competing in the short
fiction section.
The jury panel consists of Documentary film
maker M.R Rajan, Italian film critic and journalist Giona Nazarro, writer and
film maker Kesang Tseten from Nepal, professional screenwriter Anjum Rajabali
from Mumbai, renowned Tamil film director Vetrimaaran and production designer
Prakash Moorthy .
IDSFFK is
hosting four films 'Winter Nomads', 'Tea Or Electricity', 'Suberg for Example'
and 'Mathew's law' that emerged as winners in the 'Vision Du Reel' which is one
of the oldest documentary events and moreover partner film festival of IDSFFK
this year
