The curtains will come down for
the five days long sixth International Documentary and Short Film Festival of
Kerala today. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the closing ceremony,
at 6.30 pm at Kairali. Minister for cultural affairs KC Joseph presides the
function. Panchayat and Social Justice Minister Dr. MK Muneer, KSCA Chariman
Priyadarshan, Vice-Chairman Gandhimathi Balan, Secretary Manoj Kumar and
Festival Artistic Director Beena Paul will also attend the ceremony.
Chief Minister will distribute
the awards for the winning documentaries
and short films under various categories. After the ceremony, the award winning
ones will be screened at the same venue.
Even though today being the last
day of the festival, there is nothing less colorful than the other four days
which were purely mesmerizing for the two thousand plus delegates. Today a
total of 34 screenings will take place. Among which the documentary ‘Fabricated’
by KP Sasi on the current times of Abdul Nazar Madani and ‘Kanayiyude Kala’ by
Nemom Pushparaj on the life of Kanayi Kunjiraman are going to be the main focus
of the day. There will also be the special screening of ‘To Let the World In’
by Avijit Mukul Kishore which has got the ticket to UK’s most prestigious
Sheffield Doc Fest 2013.
